Island Tour (No Teide) - South
RRP Price € 28.00
Our Price € 22.00
Tenerife enjoys some of the most scenically stunning and diverse locations on Earth thanks to its volcanic history and subtropical climate; from Mars-like lava fields to thousand-year-old pine forests, the islands' size belies its incredible diversity.
This excursion aims to make the most of this varied land, starting at the southwestern coast before winding up the hills towards Santiago del Teide and the Los Erjos mountain formation situated at similar elevation to the plateau of Mt. Teide, offering views of the arguably prettier north face of the volcano. Heading further north, you'll pass through the village of El Tanque before stopping at the Mirador de Garachico viewing platform which provides a perfect photo opportunity of Garachico below, once completely destroyed in the 1706 volcanic eruption. The tour heads further north to Icod de los Vinos, famous for being home to the legenrdary Dragon Tree, a thousand-year-old tree fabled to grown from the ashes of a fallen dragon. You will briefly stop by the tree for photos prior to heading to the valley of La Orotava for a cultural hit of some of the finest art, traditional architecture and riveting history to be found on the island, visiting the craft house of La Casa de los Balcones.
The tour breaks for lunch at the model village of Pueblochico where guests can enjoy free entry and purchase lunch from the on site cafe, otherwise we recommend pre-packing your own food. One final viewing platform stop at the Mirador de Humboldt, offering panoramic views of Puerto de la Cruz and El Rincon, before returning south via Candelaria where you'll have the opportunity to visit the Basilica and the black Madonna, patron saint of the Canaries.
